Ms Mirzikinian, who lives at the property with her professional poker player husband Warwick Mirzikinian, was hoping to undergo a $2.6 million rebuild that would see a large section of the home knocked down.

But Woollahra Council originally rejected the proposal as it exceeded the maximum height level of the area.

As well as a new swimming pool and a massive revamp of the property’s outdoor space, Ms Mirzikinian also planned to build an adjoining two-storey domicile above the existing building.

Taking the matter to New South Wales Land and Environment Court, she successfully argued the rebuild should be allowed to go ahead.

‘The area of the exceedance does not alter existing solar access to neighbouring properties or open space,’ the court’s Commissioner Tim Horton found.
