GF: I think it’s evolving really quickly! During the last two years, I’ve been developing so many different aspects. Now I’m feeling more comfortable than ever with my work. It’s time for fun now.
Online selling. Totally possible if you use ebay or know how to set up an E-commerce website yourself, but getting the credit card system sorted out is a major cost. Lots of girls shop online now, you just need to know how to market it right and get your products noticed.
Then one day something magical happened. My wife decided to make our son’s birthday cake herself. She was fed up with grocery store cakes and wanted to take a stab at doing it herself. Because she is an artist, it seemed to come natural to her. Then the unveiling, I saw that red stringy Elmo cake, and I knew we had found our destiny. She could make the cakes, and I could run the business side of things. This was going to be simple, or so I thought. “I will just buy her some cake pans and enroll her in some classes and we’ll be off”.
I was able to start my business with $1,000.00. The most expensive item I purchased was the heat press. It was $700.00. After you have searched around to find a good heat press that will fit your budget, you will need to find a company where you can purchase your t-shirts at a wholesale price. I was very fortunate to find a t-shirt company in a near by city that sold their shirts wholesale. This worked out perfect for me, because I was able to place my order over the phone and pick up my t-shirts the next day. This really cut down on the two to three days waiting period and not to mention the shipping charges.
If you have some cash, give a way some free products in a contest. Promote the contest as much as possible, to have people come to your site, sign up for a newsletter, Acttee or blog, or submit emails about your site to their friends, for a chance to win a free product. This is a great way to increase recognition of your brand, increase SEO, and increase your page rank in Google, all leading to more traffic, more looks at your products, and more sales.
GF: I usually listen to different kinds of music. I’m listening to music the whole day, and I love to discover new bands, new sounds. Right now my playlist has these bands: Yacht, New Young Pony Club, Liars, Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective, Piano Magic, Panda Bear, Beach House, and Benjamin Biolay, and I’m also re-discovering the Spanish band Los Planetas…
Obviously, you’ll need T Shirts. Decide how many you want to sell to begin with and what colors you’ll want. It’s a good idea to start with at least one design in every size (small, medium, large, extra large). You’ll need to find decent quality T shirts at the lowest price possible. Of course, the more you buy the cheaper the T shirts will be, so you’ll have to decide how much inventory to invest in. I’ve gotten T shirts less than $1 each in the garment district in Los Angeles. If you don’t live in that area, search for a wholesale source online or check a discount store like Rite Aid, Walgreens or Costco.

If you take some time designing your products, those products will be on auto pilot, so to speak. As long as you pay any small monthly fees, your products can sell while you sleep. That’s right, your funny hilarious t-shirts, and cool awesome products, will make you money 24 hours a day. Sounds easy, right? It is, and we’ve joined thousands of shop owners, making money off their creativity.
