Over the past year, I produced a commitment to travel more. To see the globe, other cultures and also to simply relax and revel in life. Everytime I keep coming back from a trip, I am rejuvenated, full of ideas and a little more ambitious. Lucky for me, my job enables me to travel and share my experiences with all of you!
Most recently I continued a 7-day time cruise to the Eastern Caribbean with Princess Cruises I’ll possess a few posts in the next month posting my experience with everyone. There were a wide variety of experiences, it becomes difficult to thin it down to just one single post.
We left on the Sunday away from Fort Lauderdale and set sail on the bright blue ocean. This was my first-time heading on a cruise liner, so I really acquired no idea what things to expect.
We arrived at our rooms to find two twin beds, a shower and a lovely balcony. I think we ate more food than we could handle too… but I’ll show you all of the food in part 2 of the post.
First let’s get to where we went and what we did!
Princess Kays, Bahamas
Our first end was Princess Kays in the Bahamas; we arrived the day after we still left the US. The elements was outstanding and I hadn’t remember seeing water that very clear since I visited Australia this past year.
Since my mother and I both LOVE staying active on vacations, we thought we would do a kayaking excursion while there.
P.S. It’s a good idea to do energetic excursions while on vacation, especially if you know you’ll be eating your fair talk about of dessert.
The wonderful part in regards to the kayak is the fact that underneath was actually transparent; even though water was clear, we didn’t see any fish. OR SHARKS.
After our trip to Princess Kays, we returned and recieved massages from their beautiful Lotus Spa You can have a 360 degree tour of the spa to get a sense of how gorgeous it is. I got a bamboo therapeutic massage which is similar to deep tissue.
I’ve been having some neck and back issues lately, therefore the therapeutic massage was such a good treat to take pleasure from.
We enjoyed fabulous meals every evening and had a great time having Mother & daughter period together, specifically since I reside in Chicago and she’s in Minneapolis.
St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands
We spent a trip to sea and arrived at St. Thomas; the weather was warm and the people were kind. We’d a hiking, kayak and snorkel guided excursion and fulfilled our guides at the port. It was an easy process and once again, I adored feeling active and experiencing all the island’s natural splendor.
The kayaking was beautiful and smooth. The tour guides spoke concerning the jellyfish, the plant life, algae and specific fish we may find. Water was a pale, obvious blue and I was quickly able to discover jellyfish within the lagoon.
We paddled to some separate part of the isle, then still left our kayaks and went for an instant hike. Through the hike, we learned all about perhaps one of the most poisonous vegetation on the planet and also discovered hermit crabs with the hundreds. It was amazing!
The crab finished up pinching me! That jerk.
We followed the walking path down to a pebble rocked walkway near the ocean where waves were crashing over the stones. I literally had simply no idea how gorgeous St. Thomas was, but now I can realize why we halted there. Have any of you been? Inform me!
After our hike, we snorkeled and saw several rainbow fish, barracuda, and a lot of coral. I’m happy my Mom was able to go through the snorkeling; it had been her first time and she was a trooper.
Before we got back for the ship, we grabbed lunch at Barefoot Buddha Highly recommend if you are ever in St. Thomas!
St. Maarten
I spent the day in St. Maarten with Lee from Suit Foodie Finds and her boyfriend, Blake. We were supposed to embark on a catamaran but both experienced like we wished to get a feel for the island and scope out a number of the food.
We stopped by way of a Caribbean restaurant and I ordered bruschetta and a Caribbean chopped salad with chicken. It wasn’t anything crazy delicious, but since Lee and I had both ran 3 kilometers that morning hours, we needed energy inside our bellies.
AND DESSERT, obviously.
Also happy about running those three miles, because I think I ended up having dessert that night too. I told you.
My just regret is that I wasn’t in a position to spend more time at St. Maarten. The history of the island is pretty interesting, as half of it’s French and the other half, Dutch. I hope to return some day to check out a number of the food and lifestyle from both sides.
Question: Perhaps you have ever been to these areas? I’d want to hear everything you do and any recommendations for others. It certainly is fun to hear about delicious eats or actions!
I’ll be back with component 2 shortly and showing you my intense body shred workout from your ship! xoxo.
Monique-
I went on that exact guided hike/snorkel/kayak experience in St. Thomas and I cherished it! The guides had been great and I always tell people I would completely recommend that in an effort to see the isle!
