Bill was a pretty good pool hustler and one night he talked me into going with him. We went to this little bar called the Red Door Inn. The door was probably red because there was blood all over it.
And I ask you, what better way is there to celebrate the coming year than with a look back at the past? I’m talking about getting retro, to a time when maybe you weren’t even born yet. (Do you realize that 21 year olds were born in 1989?) That’s right, I’m talking about New Wave New Year’s Eve at The Shelter.
If you’re still in the mood to party you can Head back downtown to 152. All I have to say is “$2 shots all night”. Enough said with that type of incentive you’re bound to meet somebody; it’s inevitable, as agent Smith would say. You have until the wee hours of the morning to make a friend or two. Get a wristband hit the third floor and tip well, the rest will take care of itself.
A further unwritten rule of dressing for stand-up is “Don’t use shorts to a comedy club.” Comedy clubs want to set on a specialized stand-up comedy present and they are inclined to search down on even brand name new comedians who walk on stage donning shorts. If you’re walking on stage at a comedy club often use pants… (I suggest very long pants).
The plan is to snatch these big bands up as they come through I-75, or “route through,” because other than Louisville or Cincinnati, there isn’t really a place to stop between Knoxville, Tenn., and Chicago, Ill., or even from Nashville, Tenn., to Indianapolis, Ind.
The bartenders at t-shirt country are some of the best I’ve encountered, both here in North Carolina and Virginia. They know how to make a drink, at that, one that isn’t just ice with a splash of liquor. The biggest selling point would have to be their prices. Tap beers are usually $3, PBR is always on special at $2 Sundays-Thursdays and $2.50 Friday and Saturday, house liquors are usually $4-$5 and whatever concoction on special is under $5. It’s hard to complain when $25 can go such a long way.
I head to the slopes for some snowboarding but opt against hittin’ up the park. I had two more nights left and a broken leg would so kill the luck streak I was on. When we return to the pad, my friends and I relax in the Jacuzzi outside – overlooking Park City and in 17 degree weather. Livin’ the life.
